Mini-Hack: 5 Easy Remedies to Try Head Pain When a stroke, it can vary from a slight discomfort to a level of pain that can literally put a stop to your day. Headaches are also, unfortunately, a common problem. According to a World Health Organization 2016, from half to three quarters of adults around the world—from 18 to 65 years old—had a headache in 2015. Among those same people, 30% or more reported to. The easiest and fastest option can be to blow up a free sale pill. If, however, you prefer to seek a more natural remedy first, why not try these five treatments at home?1. Peppermint essential oil and have been shown, at times, to help with many health problems — headaches included. One found that the topic could be effective in reducing stress headaches. Mix several drops with an ounce of , such as coconut oil, and apply the mixture to your temples to soak in its effects.2. Exercise Although it may be the last thing you feel when you do when a headache strikes, moving around can help you feel better. Fortunately, it doesn't have to be anything as extreme as running a marathon. Start with light cardio, like a walk. To relieve muscle tension and make blood flow, try yoga. And when you sit up, it starts sweating. Consistent and moderate exercise to reduce the frequency and duration of migraines in general.3. Caffeine If you look forward to your morning caffeine increase to start your day, there are some good news for you: coffee, tea, and even (yes) chocolate can help cure a headache. The headache is caused by dilation, or expansion, of blood vessels. Caffeine can help that pain due to its vasoconstrictive properties, which means it causes blood vessels to constrict. In fact, caffeine is a key active ingredient in free-sale migraine drugs such as Excedrin. Tread slowly, however — frequent use of caffeine to treat headaches can really, and tolerance and dependence can become a concern.4. Taking a SiestaThe dream is key to a healthy lifestyle and a nap can help fight those headaches. But how long should you hit the hay? It's all you need to keep the nap benefits. If, however, it can be carved for 90 minutes, it is likely to go through a whole sleep cycle and wake up feeling very refreshed.5. Try a hot or cold compress A hot compress — like a hot pad or even a hot shower — relaxes the tight muscles. A cold compress, like an ice pack, can have a numbing effect. Try both for 10 minutes and see what gives you the best relief. Dehydration is definitely one of the most common causes of headaches, especially for me. So water is always my number one solution. I've tried laundry and tea before, but the others I've never heard of... will definitely try them out though! Yes, proper hydration is HUGE! Not only does it avoid headaches, but it also makes you head clear and properly energized for the day. It used to be terrible about drinking water and drinking water regularly is definitely a very simple and effective positive habit that makes a big difference in your well-being. You're right about one thing, Yumi... I've always wanted an excuse to buy one of those wonderfully tacky tiger cans balm. :) It is also amazing for mosquito bites Prevention is a great thing. I used to have bad migraines. After several years, I discovered that they were activated by certain foods; mainly those that had nitrates, such as bacon, sausage, hotdogs, ham. (and my dear chocolate!) It took me so long to find out the connection, because the reaction was 12 to 24 hours after eating those offensive foods. Who would connect a headache with what you ate yesterday? I suggest that anyone suffering from migraines try to remove those from the diet. After a few weeks without those foods or migraines, eat a hotdog. You'll see! Also; hormonal replacement - estrogen, can actually cause horrible migraines in some. Nitroglycerin for angina too. Punta GREAT, Sandra, and something I should have included in the post. Monitoring your diet and eliminating processed, sugary, and other forms of unhealthy foods can definitely make a big difference in eliminating headaches and your level of energy. oops meant 'increase of your energy level' I don't understand them now, but a few years ago I used to have a huge headache every Saturday as a watchmaker. I don't know why, but it was really upset! I used the water towel trick to get him off. I would also recommend stretching the light, especially around the neck and shoulder. Sometimes the neck and shoulders are so stiff or tense that it could make the headache much worse. Relaxing those muscles often made my headaches go a lot faster. Oh I have another one, this one taught me a friend of mine: If you have a broken headache closes your eyes. Once you have closed your eyes, try to perceive where the source of pain comes from. If you have multiple pain points only focus on one right now. Some people say that "I swear that the headache originates somewhere behind my eye" or "I think the pain is approaching the back of my neck." When you have a sense of where the point of pain comes from, focus on it. In your mind, imagine that area and how pain may seem based on how strong it is ( "I feel it is a small sharp point" or "I feel it is a thin line of pain"). If you keep focusing on that source, you'll start to notice that it slowly begins to change shape and intensity. The more you try to focus on it the smaller it becomes and the less pain you will feel from that point. After a few minutes, that pain point that was terrible now becomes more relaxed and manageable. If you have several points, concentrate on one and then follow the next. If I have a shaken headache where it feels like I'm stabbed that's what I do. It doesn't work when the headache spreads evenly and it all hurts, but only in cases where you can identify where it is most hurting. Great tip, JD. Thanks for sharing, you're amazing. Kinda reminds me of a deeper and sophisticated version of biting your lip to stop the cramps when you run. Here's one... if you're on the computer or looking at a screen and you've got a headache, first, if you can escape the screen, do it. But if you can't, every 20 minutes, look at something far, like 25 feet, for about 30 seconds. Whenever I'm looking at a screen I do this, because it also avoids headaches. These are some awesome tips. I'll try to make ginger tea next time I have headaches, and try to remember to drink more water. (I am terrible about it!)hey yumi- this seems to be really popular, maybe you could do a continuation or something? that would be awesome :) Definitely something to consider! did not realize that this post would hit such a chord between people. :)+ Yumi - Yes, hitting a huge chord! Thank you! I made ginger tea today and it worked but I must add, it works even better to add cardamom. Cardamom not only helps my headaches, but also treated a problem that I had where I felt the need for burp but could not release it. The problem got worse and caused me to make scenes in public because my esophagus was going crazy with me! But cardamom and kombucha ginger solved the problem. ... Share your thoughts
